Well fear not. General Protection Fault, by Jeff Darlington has got you covered. His webcomic goes all the way back to 1998 with consistent updates for nearly twenty years. There is a bit of art style shift but the characters you meet in the first pages are the same characters who are getting into shenanigans thrice a week to this day.
The story follows Nick and Ki a pair of geeks who work at GPF software through the mundane (clients who ask too much), to the absurd (what happens when you put geeks in the woods), to the explicitly fantastic (the aliens do attack, there is probing, also slime molds). Added to Nick and Ki's journey are Fooker (he is either a slob or a super spy), Trudy (is she EVIL or just mean), and a host of temp workers who may or may not have set up a cult around Fooker's maybe girlfriend.
It is a great read but don't get lost in the fractals, watch out for talking slime molds, and do remember to speak respectfully to the eldritch beings.
