Dying Embers
"Adams is an inventive world-builder who also creates lively and distinctive character voices. Her truckers, biologists and bureaucrats are as unique as her aliens and otherworld denizens. She never loses sight of the personal implications of her cosmic drama, from the inevitable missteps of first contact to the joys and difficulties of interspecies adoption. Fans of Andre Norton and Lois McMaster Bujold will find much to delight and intrigue them in Dying Embers."
N.E. Broadwell, English Major
I am a lifetime avid reader of all things science fiction and fantasy, and I have to say that this is one of the best debut novels I have had the pleasure of reading. The non-human cultures are fascinating, however, the real treasure of this novel is its at times heart wrenching exploration of the bonds of family, and the sacrifices that parents will make for their children. Yet, even when everything seems darkest, hope is never lost. This is a beautiful book, with characters that will stay with you long after you turn the final page. I look forward with great anticipation to a sequel.

"I personally found Dying Embers to be a captivating read. This was an unique work that makes you care for the characters at an intimate level, making their tragic demise all the more painful to bear. I would not change a single letter of it."

"I loved reading it, and I sometimes still go in to read it when I can."

"This, this is a very dangerous piece of writing to read in public, in a subway train while commuting to work..."
"Oh...MY GOD! I just finished the sorry...and there were so many bitter sweet moments, I laughed, I cried...and as a Mama who has lost 3 *embers* of my own...I really connected with Drake. definitely not something to read in public...such an intimate story. I loved the accurate portrayal of all the medical jargon too. That was just the icing on the cake..."
"What a way to end (or should I say start?) a story! This was amazingly well written and every word left me begging for more. Seeing the way you make the character grow through your story is beautiful.
Wow, good job."

*curls into ball and sobs quietly*"
"I cried. OH , I CRIED HARDER THAN I DID DURING THE TITANIC! It took more effort than I have needed to exert in a very, VERY, long time. My heart felt it as if would burst when Comitflare fell from the air..."
